Nashville TV Show Plot

In the Nashville TV show, Rayna James (played by Connie Britton) is a big name on the country and western music circuit. When she was younger, she was touted as the next superstar of her generation. Now she's 40 and her star is beginning to fade. Sales of her latest album have been slow.

Her record label come up with a marketing tactics to help boost sales. They want Rayna to tour in conjunction with Juliette Barnes (played by Hayden Panettiere). In fact, they want her to co-headline.

Juliette Barnes is the next big thing in Nashville. She's an ovenight sensation and everyone is singing her songs. Rayna agrees to think about the idea of a joint tour and agrees to meet Juliette.

However, things don't go according to plan when Rayna and Juliette meet face to face. Juliette has her own agenda. Her plan is to replace Rayna and become the biggest selling country singer. She's willing to do anything to achieve her goals including using her sex appeal.

When Juliette meets Rayna, she's told to play nice. Instead she insults Rayna by letting her know that her mother used to play Rayna's music to her while she was still in the womb. Rayna pushes back and it's clear that a joint anything will never work between this pair.

Juliette can see no advantage to co-headlining with Rayna James. The only advantage is to the label and so she sabotages the meeting.

Juliette makes it her mission to replace Rayna and does her best to steal Rayna's team. She succeeds in luring Randy Roberts to the dark side and he is now producing her records. He was previously Rayna's music producer and friend. Juliette makes it her mission to steal Deacon, Rayna's former lover and songwriter and lead guitarist. However, he proves to be too loyal to Rayna.

However, Rayna James has other pressing issues. She comes from a politically motivated family and her father always frowned on her music career. Her father encouraged her to marry Teddy Conrad and he has been living off her income ever since.

They have two children together, but now her father is encouraging Teddy to become more political and get involved. Rayna is dead set against it, but her husband feels it's time for him to step into the spotlight and make some money for the family. Rayna could retire and he'd look after her for a change. He doesn't seem to understand music is everything to her.

Rayna is fighting a war on two fronts; with her family and with her record label.

When the record label forces her to co-headline with Juliette Barnes, Rayna tells them to kiss her ass.

Rayna can't understand why people listen to the music Julieete Barnes produces. She knows that Juliette can't sing well enough to be her backing singer, but the autotuner hides her flaws. When the record compnay wants Rayna to perform first and Juliette will be the star of the show, Rayna quickly refuses.

Instead, Rayna and her team think they have a new direction to pursue with a new songwriter. Meanwhile, Juliette continues to pursue her goal of dominating the music scene in the Nashville TV series.

Will You Like Nashville?

The Nashville TV series has a little of something for everyone. There's some sensual and steamy moments. There's modest nudity and some hinted sexuality. There's also politics in terms of actual politicians, but also in terms of these two singers dealing with their record label and navigating the tricky waters of the music business. On the other hand, the show is also about a mother trying to keep her family together and the daily struggles.

You'll particularly love the Nashville TV show if you'd like to find out more about what happens behind closed doors in the music industry. What's the deal with all the cat fights and backstabbing? Watch as people show their teeth in public while delivering a biting comment meant to hurt the intended recipient.

If you're a fan of Connie Briton then this would be a great show for you to watch. See how she has to adapt to the situation her character finds herself in, trying to deal with a young upstart.

If you loved Hayden Panetierre as the super sweet, self healing cheerleader then expect that and more from her performance in the Nashville series. She's still super cute, but not so sweet. In this new series she has a lot more sex appeal and knows how to use it. Her character comes across as ruthless and will do anything to get her way and replace the older star for good.

If you like your characters fully developed and realistic then you'll absolutely love this show. The Nashville cast and characters are well developed and you quickly get an insight into their personalities and their motivations. You can tell the characters are invested in what they are doing and are committed. However, they are very much human and have flaws, emotions and weaknesses.

I believe audiences will begin to sympathize with some of the characters and just when they think a character is worth disliking, they'll discover there's reasons for their behavior and find themselves to be more understanding. Nothing is black and white in this drama.

Expect affairs and underhanded behavior, but also lookout for loyalty and real friendship. Who will be left standing at the end of Nashville?

Nashville has all the glitz and glamor of the new Dallas tv show crossed with the singing talents and dramas of the Smash tv series.
