The Best Workout Songs For Women to Stay Motivated on the Path to Fitness

Keeping motivated to exercise is made easier by listening to the best workout songs for women. These songs were chosen because they are motivational, upbeat and have an important message behind each song.

If you are looking for motivation to just start exercise or to keep going with your exercise plan and want to get fitter faster, then these are the right songs for you.

It can be easy to get distracted while exercising. Many women give up far too early. They feel self conscious at the gym or while running along the road. You might feel that you're above your optimum weight and people are staring at you. Whatever your personal situation, music can really help to displace those fears and distractions. Plus it makes those boring routines more enjoyable. Even if you just dance to these tracks alone in your bedroom, it's still great exercise and heaps of fun too!

I use workout music to block out the world and to focus on my body. I try to tap into how the extra exercise will sculpt my body into a better shape, making me look and feel sexier and healthier. The music melts away my worries, distracts me from the other people around me and keeps me upbeat and motivated.

So without further ad, I bring to you, my list of great workout songs for women to keep fit to.

It's ultra important to warm up before you start your proper exercise regime. By warming up correctly, you are less likely to cause yourself an injury and jeopardize the next few weeks or months of getting fit.

Olivia Newton John's Physical is a great song to workout to. It's a slower song that will allow you to warm up those muscles without straining yourself.

Although this song almost ruined Olivia's career, as she was previously branded as the sweet girl next door, it could do wonders to motivate you to get fitter.

Missy Elliot knows how to Work It. If this songs doesn't motivate ladies to workout then I don't know what would.

In the song Missy Elliot talks about losing weight and how great she looks now that she's lost the weight. However, she's not embarrassed about her body and talks about her assets.

This song has a great beat and isn't too fast so would be great for some body sculpting, stretching or jogging. Also, Missy reminds us the importance of staying hydrated while exercising as she gets thirsty and asks for a glass of water. Follow her example and keep a bottle of water near by.

Sometimes you go to the gym and all you can think about is all the people staring at you. You feel uncomfortable and awkward, but don't let that stop you. Instead turn it around and find someone that you can send covert glances in their direction.

Maybe there's someone that you find attractive. Even though you don't know their name you'd like to. Maybe you feel the same way as Christina Aguilera in this song with P Diddy.

I know I find myself scoping out the sculpted bodies in the gym. Don't worry if you feel like people are checking you out. Everyone at the gym is looking at someone else. Some of their thoughts are even positive and they might covet your assets, your workout clothes or even your eyes.

If you're an independent girl then this is the best workout song for you.

It's upbeat, it's funky and fun at the same time. If you feel different and like to feel empowered while working out then this is for you.

This song is timeless always makes me raring to go and to get my hear rate up. Pink always comes over as fiercely independent and willing to do things that other girls would never dream of. this is a great workout song.

If you are looking for another upbeat song that has a more dance feel to it then Kelly Clarkson's Stronger is for you.

This song should be every woman's individual mantra. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stand a little taller, doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone. What doesn't kill you makes a fighter, footsteps even lighter, doesn't mean I'm over 'cause you're gone. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Just me, myself and I."

It's the same as at the gym. No-one else can do the exercise for you. It's all on you. You can have motivators in your life, but at the end of the day it's all on you.

The best workout songs for women list wouldn't be complete without a Destiny's Child song. The obvious choice would have been Survivor, but Bootlicious is more fun, tongue in cheek and also features some Michael Jackson moves.

You can practice in the privacy of your own home and try some of the moves they show in the video. By the time you get to the gym, you'll have perfected the moves and you'll be Bootylicious too. Just joking, but it's an upbeat and fun track to workout to. You can feel good while you get fit and no-one says you have to be a soldier. You can enjoy yourself at the same time. I know I do.

The Black Eyed Peas have some great music to choose from. They are funky, unique and always different. the sultry tones of Fergie make the group appeal to all genders.

This Pump It song by The Black Peas gives women directions of how to workout in the gym. So turn up your iPad and listen to what they are telling you. And remember to Pump It.

And if you want directions from Fergie then check out her dance moves in the video.

This song will help you feel motivated and happy while in the gym. You might even find yourself dancing in the middle of the gym. Who would have thought you could get so much exercise with a bowling ball, or in an underground car park?

Getting fit isn't always easy. Maybe you've been knocked down in life and had your fair of struggles. Maybe you've recently broken up with someone or been cheated on. Maybe you just had a baby and are struggling to lose the extra weight. Take your rage and despair out by exercising. It will allow you to release all the tension and channel it into a great by product - An awesome body.

Fighter by Christina Aguilera is my favorite workout song. It makes me feel tough and that I can handle anything. It motivates me to stay on that treadmill, even if my legs are ready to fall off. If I'm doing light weights, I will complete all those reps and not skip some, which I can be guilty of. This song makes me think of all the amazing things women are capable of, no matter what guys put them through, or the challenges they face in life.

Alicia Key's Superwoman song is one of the best workout songs for women. It's positive, it's upbeat and it's soulful. It's all about being a Superwoman and no matter how you feel you can still achieve your goals.

There are times when you just feel crap! You don't want to get up, you don't want to get dressed and you can't be bothered to leave the house. But if you do you'll feel better for it. It's the same with working out. You've come so far in your workout and you just need to push it and keep going.

Don't fail at the second to last hurdle. Work those abs, arms or whichever part of your body that needs the most work. Keep yourself motivated and know that you will get there. You can do anything you put your mind to achieving.

Just as it's important to warmup, it's even more important to cool down.

You've worked up a sweat and now you need to stretch out, releasing some of that lactic acid build up. Doing some stretches will help you elongate those muscles and help prevent bulking. Every woman wants long, sleek limbs.

The Sea by Morcheeba always helps to relax me and I take my time doing some stretches listening to Morcheeba's sultry tones. It is refreshing and relaxing while still fun and reminds me of great times in my life. It makes me think of being beside the beach and sunning myself.

Just in time to remind myself that I am in the gym and have just finished a grueling workout, which was well needed and leaves me looking forward to my next exercise session.
