Arrow TV Show Review - Justin Hartley Replaced by Stephen Amell
Arrow TV Show
If you are looking for a new fall tv show to watch then the Arrow TV show on the CW may be your best bet, especially if you like adapted comics or superhero type stories. Smallville fans will probably love the Arrow TV series coming to our screens on the 10th of October 2012.
The story follows the same premise of the Green Arrow which was featured heavily in Smallville and was originally played by Justin Hartley. However, in this spin off version of the Arrow series, the green hooded superhero is played by Stephen Amell. You may recognise Amell from Hung, where he played a male gigolo trying to make some money on the side.
If you decide to dress up like the Arrow on Halloween or for a fancy dress party, here's the accessories you'll need. Get the archery set with all the extra's to pull off the Green Arrow look! Just make sure you don't poke out your eye.
Arrow TV Series Plot
Oliver Queen is a young man that goes on a trip with his father and other people connected with his family. His father has just sold his business in New York and they become stranded out in the ocean. Before everyone else dies on the voyage, some important family secrets are handed down from father to son.
Oliver listens closely to his father's dying wish and vows to make things better if he is ever given the chance. His father leaves him with a special book of names, detailing the corruption that can be found in New York City.
As he grows up and becomes a man on a deserted island, he takes his father's dying wish and makes it his goal to make a difference. He uses these five years to hone his skills and survive the dangers of being deserted.
When he sees a chance for getting off the island he takes it.
When Oliver Queen returns to New York some people are very surprised. According to the rest of the world, he's been dead for the last five years.
There are people in high places who are upset that he has managed to survive and want to know how much his father shared with him, and if his father is still alive. It's no accident they were stranded at sea.
He doesn't let this stop him and adopts a superhero disguise as a green hooded archer bringing justice to the city. Think Batman but in green, hooded and a zip wire, rather than the Batmobile.
If you like men in tights or bad boys with bows and arrows then you might really enjoy the Revolution TV series coming to NBC this Fall.
In the Arrow TV show, no-one can know the Arrow's real identity as it could endanger those closest to him. However, just like in Superman or Batman or other superhero shows, the audience knows the real identity of the Arrow.
The Arrow TV Show is More Than a Super Hero Show
People are maybe wondering why the Arrow dresses in green rather than red or blue? I guess the inspiration was taken from the lead characters name - Olive(r) Queen. And also based on the Robin Hood character who stole from the rich and gave to the poor.
Many viewers will be sure to think that the Arrow TV show is just like any other superhero based show. In some ways it is and is very similar to the premise of Batman. The similarities between Arrow and Batman are quite surprising. They are both billionaires in large cities. Gotham is supposed to represent New York city and the Arrow TV series is set in New York. Perhaps it's to do with the level of corruption and rot found in the Big Apple.
Batman technically isn't a superhero and neither is the Arrow. They are both normal people who lost their family. These loses have set them on the path to becoming men who seek to right wrongs and are obsessed with justice.
Who Makes a Better Green Arrow?
What happened to Justin Hartley?
Some fans from Smallville will be left wondering what happened to Justin Hartley, who previously played the Green Arrow. Unfortunately, it would appear that the makers of the show didn't want the show to be seen as a spin off and wanted it to be able to survive as a new show with a new, more macho lead character.
I guess Justin Hartley was more playboy billionaire and they wanted more of a batman feel to the character with a bigger physical build. This is a shame as Hartley had a really loyal fan base and many viewers will miss him in the skin tight leathers we were accustomed to seeing him in.
They have enough money to develop special tools to use in their secret lives. Batman has a car that's tricked out to meet every need and a belt that has lots of nifty gadgets. Arrow has a bow and special arrows that blow stuff up. He's also a huge fan of the zip line
Both men have secret identities and wear costumes to hide who they are. They both wear seriously tight outfits. Batman has a cape while the Arrow has a Hood. Either way, both have great bodies that involves lots of strenuous activity.
However, the Arrow TV show isn't just about the Arrow. It's also about Oliver Queen trying to have a life and readjust to living in a big city, constantly scrutinized. On top of that, he's trying to reconnect with friends and family and find his place in the world.
It's a story about survival and following the right and moral path to salvation, not just for him but also for his family and the residents of New York City.
